3 tips to overcoming entrepreneurial fear
Is there a big idea or new project that you know could help people in a deeper way but you’ve been afraid to get it out into the world for some reason? Here’s the thing: Fear is a normal part of life. It will always pop up when you’re about to move out of our comfort zone.
It’s important to learn how to embrace it and know how to work with it (and not against it). This will allow you to use it as a tool to propel you into your next big level of success regardless of what’s going on in the world.
Here are three simple steps to dancing with fear:
1. Acknowledge your fear
If there is something new in your business that you want to do but you’ve been procrastinating, haven’t done it, or haven’t made it a priority, ask yourself this question: “What am I afraid of here?” You’ll find that by asking yourself that question, you’ll acknowledge that there is something you’re afraid of that is holding you back. You’ll then be able to identify exactly what it is, which is half the battle. Once you’ve done this, you can then move to the next step.
2. Choose to make decisions and take actions from faith and trust, not fear
Once you’ve acknowledged that you’re afraid, you can now move into a powerful place of decision. You can choose to take action or inaction from a place of fear OR you can choose to take action from a place of trust. Being at this point can be very empowering because you’ll no longer wonder why you’re not moving forward. It’s simply because you haven’t decided to face your fears yet and move into faith that you have what it takes to create what you want. Trust me, you do have what it takes. Your confidence and belief will continue to grow as you continue to take action.
3. Don’t try to do this all alone
In order to face your fears, make better decisions, take courageous and empowered action, and build a successful business, you need support and community. You’re not meant to do business (and life) alone. This process of transformation, empowerment and success is a courageous one, and it really can’t happen alone. You need to be surrounded by people who support your next level of growth and tell you, “You can do it!” at those moments when you don’t think that you can. Every successful person I know has a mentor, coach, guide or community that supports them to be more of who they truly are and become the best version of themselves. As a result, financial and business success follows.
Your Assignment
Take some time this week to decide that you’re going to work with your fear and not against it, and finally make 2023 your year. Make a list of areas that you need support in and commit to getting the support you need. If you need to learn more in a specific area, go find out how you can do that. If you need a mentor, go find one. If you need to hire an assistant, go find one. If you need to ask family or friends for help, go ask them. Taking these steps will ensure that you’re more successful in 2023 and that this year is your most powerful year ever.
